SCHOOL HISTORY
Pacuan Provincial Community High School was established, through a provincial ordinance, in the years 1990. Its existence was actually due to the joint efforts of the Municipal Government of La Libertad headed by then Mayor Napoleon Camero who provided the municipal-owned 1890-square meter )a little less than one fifth hectare) school site and the Provincial Government headed by then Gov. Emilio Macias III who appropriated funds for the salaries and benefits of teachers and other school operating expenses. The school commenced its operation even before the start of the construction of its first school buildings. Classes were held in the vacant classrooms of the nearby Pacuan Elementary School. It was only on the early part of 1993 when the first 2 PMS school buildings (with 2 classrooms each) were finally constructed. From then on, additional classroom buildings have been constructed to address the classroom needs of the School whose enrolment have been increasing tremendously every year. To date, the school has already had a total of 15 functional classrooms.
When the school was opened on June 1990, it was run by two teachers; Mrs. Lucila Fundador and Mr. Iran Jesus Divinagracia who was the teacher in-charge then. There were 60 boys and girls (first batch) who enrolled as first year students. This batch had left a remarkable unbroken record in the history of the School in terms of cohort survival rate. Not a soul decided to drop out from school for four enduring years, all of them received their high school diploma during the 1st Graduation Exercises on March 27, 1994. Not a batch anymore in the succeeding school years has established such an outstandingrecord of zero dropout rate.
In 1998, Mayor Lawrence D. Limkaichong Jr. Executed a Deed of Donation of the school site in favor of the Department of Education Culture and Sports (now DepEd). The School was subsequently included in the General Appropriation Act (GAA) and it was changed to its present name, Pacuan National High School. The National Government has taken over the responsibilities of appropriating funds for the general operation of the School. There are now 24 nationally funded teaching and non-teaching personnel working in the School. The Municipal and Provincial Government however have continued to support the School by providing teacher-aides to address the need of additional teachers. In fact, at present, the school has 3 municipally-funded and 1 provincially-funded teacher aides as part of the entire work force.
Pacuan National High School is the greatest legacy of its founding fathers bestowed upon the hinterland people of La Libertad. Generally, it is the key factor in uplifting the educational as well as the cultural and socio-economic status of the community. The school envisions on producing value-oriented and highly competitive students nurtured by dynamic, effective and efficient teachers and administrators who work hand in hand with the rest of the stakeholders in making the school an ideal place for learning.
